Healthy Granola Parfait

This delightful layered combination of granola, yogurt and fruit is not only scrupulous it’s also a work of art. Healthy Granola Parfait is without a doubt satisfying for breakfast, lunch or a midday snack. It’s chocked full of healthy ingredients that will sustain appetite for hours.

As I always recommend, use the highest quality ingredients you can find. Shop at a health food grocery store for packaged granola. In this day and age I’m just too busy to make my own granola but I have found there are fantastic granolas on the market that are free from white sugar, wheat, dairy, additives or preservatives.

Look for packaged granola that contains organic ingredients such as rolled oats, almonds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, unsulphured raisins or currents, blackstrap molasses, unpasteurized honey.

The health benefits of this parfait are bountiful starting with oats that contain soluble and insoluble fiber and the minerals selenium, magnesium, potassium and zinc. Goat’s milk yogurt is good source of protein, riboflavin and vitamin B12, it replaces beneficial intestinal flora and increases mineral absorption. Unpasteurized (raw) honey has anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal properties. Pumpkin, sesame and sunflower seeds provide amino acids, calcium and a multitude of other essential minerals. Fresh and frozen fruits add anti-oxidant and phytonutrient value.

Although the Healthy Granola Parfait is nutritious, it isn’t low in calories. The seeds are high in good fats as well as the goat’s milk yogurt, so eat this delicious parfait with care.

There are so many fruit variations to choose from. Everyone has their favorite! My family’s favorite is frozen blueberries but by all means use any berry fresh or frozen. Try the parfait with mandarin oranges, fresh peaches or kiwi.

Adults, teens and toddlers will love the Healthy Granola Parfait. It will become everyone’s favorite snack and treat.
