Modern Personal Training

Modern personal training for the most part is turn-style, mechanized and based on an assembly-line approach for profit. It teaches reliance rather than independence and often fails to achieve what clients actually need. Education and a true sense of knowing what to do and why.

Like conventional medicine, modern personal training completely ignores the principle of individual biochemistry.

It’s sad to say, but most personal trainers are nothing more than professional hand holders, and like most babysitters, they don’t do the dishes. In this hand holding paradigm the relationship between trainer and client is highly dysfunctional. It's like the weird and strange relationship between the pet owner and the pet. I ask you "Who is the slave, and who is the master?" For the most part it's impossible to tell.

A great personal trainer teaches and leads first and foremost by personal physical excellence. Their knowledge of sports nutrition and exercise science is outstanding and identical...both are essential to optimize client health, body composition and performance. A great personal trainer teaches each client how to fish from any stream, lake or ocean. When the training process is complete, the client should know how to bait their own hook, cast, reel-in, net, clean and prepare their catch anytime anywhere. The student is now self-reliant and ready to teach others.

If you can’t train on your own without assistance after being professionally trained by a trainer, then you simply haven’t been trained correctly. Like the kiddies in the gym daycare you've been supervised, but you haven’t been trained.

And one more thing: a great personal trainer never puts any weights away except their own. They understand human nature and why people struggle with life, stress, emotions, personal health care management and putting their own weights away. Weights are replaced as a function of logic and courtesy, not just because the gym rules state we have to.
