The Myth of Muscle Memory When accepted as truth by large numbers of people without investigation, a false myth can cause profound cultural change. Tahini Sweet Rolls. Spread 1-2 tablespoons of tahini and raw honey on a medium sized sprouted wholegrain chapatti (wrap). Add thick banana slices across the wrap in a straight line, then roll the wrap over and around the banana slices. Bend one end up to prevent the good stuff inside from squeezing out then start chomping away. Yummy in my tummy!

Super Blend Protein. Imagine a super-high quality whey protein isolate blended with precise amounts of creatine, glutamine, ribose and spirulina. No more fussing with five bottles and tiny scoopers. When the going gets tough, the tough get going! How these words ring through my ears as I recall the studio dance manager bellow every Monday morning to the staff. I still find these words consoling. I still live by them, as the going can get tough, but then, so can I! Don’t let tough times get you down. Are you resilient to the times?

Every human is a biological snowflake. That we are unique and unlike anyone else biochemically has now been confirmed by genetic research obtained from scientists working on the human genome project. Nutrition plays a huge role in genetic expression. Our genes give us the gun but the environment pulls the trigger. What you eat is the ammunition in the barrel.

I don't always have snacks at night time although when I feel like a treat in the evening I find the best munchie food for me is peanuts in the shell or organic homemade popcorn topped with sea salt and ghee. If I want something on the sweet side I'll have a whole wheat wrap filled with almond or peanut butter, unpasteurized honey and sliced banana. Mmm...talk about yummy. High fat, high carbs... but all natural!

The Constanza Principle

The “C” Principle. As a general rule do the “opposite” of what convention teaches when it comes to nutrition, lifestyle and exercise and you will live longer and feel better.

Do cardio before weight-training and exercise at a low to moderate intensity for 20-40 minutes if weight loss is your goal. WRONG! The opposite is true. First, you shouldn’t exercise to lose “weight”. The objective of exercise is to get fit, not lose “weight”. Body composition is modified best through nutrition, meaning manipulation of fats, carbs and protein. Supply your biological demand in relation to energy and micronutrient demands. This is the Prime Directive of nutrition science.

Strength training comes first. A common mistake is to do your cardio first, thinking you need to “burn off” the fat. No way Jose! You warm-up, then hit the weights to strengthen and build your health engine. Muscle is where the fat is burned. Lose your muscle and you lose your fat-burning capacity. Do cardio after the weights and watch the fat peel off.
